Tor.com was recently in line at the 4/11 NYC Doctor Who premiere with a ton of fans. We’ll be shining a spotlight on a few of them leading all the way up to April 23rd.
While Doctor Who is a family show, the lack of children at the DW Line Con was not surprising. The line started pretty early in the morning and it was a school day. I like to think that if it had been me as a kid, my mom would have let me play hookey; she was usually pretty understanding about her daughter’s eccentricities.
Still, it seems a few young people actually made it to the screening, and when I saw Reza, I had to nab him for a few quick questions. He was a real sharp kid.
What was your first exposure to Doctor Who?
My dad had a college friend who started watching it, and then he got really into it and he showed me.
What other types of science fiction and fantasy do you enjoy?
I like Star Trek and Star Wars.
Which era of Star Trek?
The original ones.
[That’s right, he said Original Series. Did I mention that Reza has class? Because he does.]
Favorite Doctor? Companion?
David Tennant and Rose.
Favorite villain and episode?
The Daleks and favorite episode is probably “Blink.”
Is there anything you would like to see them do on the show that they haven’t done?
It would be cool if they went back to Greek mythology with all the gods and stuff.
On the ground very close to where Reza was sitting, there was a magnificent chalk TARDIS on the ground. Although, having seen “Fear Her,” I was a little nervous about getting too close. What if Chloe Weber had drawn it?
